Where should a PHP programmer go?

Hello everyone, help the student, but read to the end, please:

What is the problem ... Now I'm in the 9th grade, I have to think. I 've been using PHP for 2 years already , I'm even more proficient in the frontend , I work with MySQL databases , I develop a little under Visual Basic.NET when I need to (that's why I know it well, although yes, it's bullshit, not a programming language).

Here are examples of work: onlinestor.net and I am also developing socium.tk . I take first place at regional conferences, soon to the Russian stage ...

I would like to ask: is it possible to go to some kind of lyceum in order to get the same or more knowledge there? What about universities? And in general, does it make sense to have a higher education with a good portfolio? I looked closely at the Higher School of Economics and the VMK, I also wanted to go to the Bauman Lyceum , my parents recommend me. What do you think?

Choose any university where there are technical specialties of a programmer, of course, something from the cool ones is better, you can learn more from good professors, but even not the top ones are already good. The university will give you experience, an understanding of many basic fundamental things, a clear program of what you need to learn in the early stages. Remember that the most important thing in a university is not how you are taught, but how you learn. Of course, it is not necessary to finish, although nevertheless, the longer you hold out, the better. Constantly make websites for the group and for the department and for your various events. In parallel, you need to make over9000 orders from a city like a site for a store that sells sweets, everything can be done even for not very big money. but in this way you will also get a hand in the practical part, you will understand what are the problems of real ordinary people that are far from technical specialties,
PS ah, and be sure to find money for this: https://ru.hexlet.io/ , they are one of the best today in terms of teaching beginners and not so programmers. The approach is completely different than that of others "I'll teach php in a month", courses and tasks are thought out with the aim of pumping, first of all, fundamental and practical things, and the consequence of this will be learning php (well, or another language).
Something like that.

Go to university for a crust, learn English. And when they talk about experience in programming, they usually mean full-time, so I advise you to divide by three the time that you work with the language. Well, just 9th grade and two years of experience, it looks funny together.

This question has already been asked hundreds of times. In universities, and even more so in Lyceums, you will not get sensible knowledge in IT, so that after graduating from it you would immediately earn a lot of money and that you would immediately be taken to Google / MS / Other. Look for the direction in which you want to develop, i.e. if in the future you want to go to gamedev, then it is better to go to physics and mathematics, if you are engaged in software for scientific research, then it depends on what you will research - chemical faculty, physical mathematics , etc., if something related to medicine, then in honey, robotics - again physics and mathematics. And for riveting sites, a university is not needed, there are plenty of them on freelance. But most importantly, without an independent desire for knowledge, reading documentation, practical tasks, nothing will work out.Not a single IT institution in the CIS (and beyond, I think, too) graduates specialists who are ready to immediately start working after graduation. You will have many years to study tons (Megabytes) of technical documentation, which will constantly change. 2 years in php is nothing, you roughly understood how it (php) works. But for example, php7 is now out, can you write on it right away? How fast can you write code without reading documentation? Follow the changes in the language in which you write? Remember (find out) how many problems there were with the transition from PHP 5.2 to 5.3.

Higher education is a must! And English too!
A specialty at the university must be chosen with fundamental knowledge, and judging by the fact that there is a desire, then after studying you can work in order to gain practice and make money. By the way, where to put the money is also an interesting question. "iPhones" salt, huh?
A programmer is not only PHP + MYSQL, IT is not only programmers, life is not only IT.
But this is not to "think about", and what needs to be done right away is to reduce pride:
* the question sounds like "Where should a PHP programmer go?", But in fact "PHP is already 2 years old," (second!). Is it 1 year and 1 day? And already a "programmer"? By the way, the one who calls himself "Napoleon" is in the same room with the "prosecutor"!
* Quote: "I develop a bit in Visual Basic.NET when I need to (so I know it well too, although yes, it's bullshit, not a programming language)." If "a little", then why immediately "bullshit"? By what right? And when was this language developed, and what is it intended for, and what are its strengths and weaknesses, and when should it be used, and when should it not?
Z.Y. rhetorical questions...

About uni. MSTU im. Bauman is a great choice. Although I myself did not study there, my work colleagues and just acquaintances make excellent specialists from there. PHP and MySQL will probably not be taught there, but the brains are set quite specifically. Learn to think. In addition, a friend who at work often communicates with foreigners (mainly Europeans) said that they have techies from Baumanka in good standing.
In Moscow they have at least one school of their own. You can find out in the regions.

cool links. If it's yours, you're moving in the right direction.
Those. with knowledge of PHP, MySQL and other insignificant garbage, you are all right. Now you need to study the most important thing. You need to understand that a programmer is not the one who writes some tricky code, but the one who solves user problems. Those. now you need to study the people for whom you are going to write programs.
It is desirable to have VO.

I really don't see the point in higher education. At least for a programmer. At the age of 11, I picked up the book "PHP in a month", since then I have read many more similar ones, many articles, studied other people's code, wrote a lot of my own code.
All sorts of school competitions, conferences, and so on are a waste of time. I was the second programmer in the area. Everything. This information is of no use to anyone. I graduated with honors in computer science - a worthless piece of paper.
I went to university for a deferment from the army, after a couple of months I realized that teaching is so shitty that it’s better to serve. As a result, after a series of "temporarily unfit" I was written off.
I have been freelancing websites for a long time. And it fed me. Now I am writing two cool web services for two clients and working on my own two web services in parallel.
Higher education... I don't know. They don't ask me. But the fundamental knowledge is there. Or rather ... And what is "fundamental knowledge"? Higher mathematics? What for? Very complex physics? Well, only if you are going to code software for physicists. On the other hand, you can always hire a cool physicist to advise you as a programmer on these issues. There will be more benefits.
Training is bullshit. Self-education rules.
In general, I was able to find a job in Moscow. Just a couple of hours of searching, the salary for the first couple of months is 60k, then it’s already much more. And I passed the interview. And they took me. But I left on my own - boring. Working for your uncle is boring. I want to work for myself. The education system is needed to raise your value in the eyes of the employer.
You checkers or go? Do you have a diploma or knowledge? You incomprehensible garbage or experience?

I recommend not to stop at PHP, learn Python, Go..., algorithms. Start a repository, participate in open source, learn English.
Try to see which technology company has the most graduates of a particular university. If someone speaks at conferences, I recommend contacting them right away, write, ask, so you can understand not only where to go to study, but also where it is possible to get a job, and I think this is your goal.
