When you close the laptop lid - switch to the second screen only mode?

Good afternoon!
I have a laptop with a monitor connected to it. It used to be like this - when you close the monitor lid, the system switched from the "extended screen" mode to "second screen only". That is, all data was transferred to the second monitor, as if the first screen was physically disabled. You can't do that with a new laptop. What are the problems?
