What you need to know before buying N900?

Good afternoon, this week I was going to buy a Nokia N900, I would like to clarify the opinion of the majority about this device, the opinion of those who have already used it, what glitches to expect, what needs to be checked during the purchase process, and what is recommended to be done after the purchase. Thank you in advance.

Be careful with the power connector. Often there are cases that they are pulled out when the cable is disconnected. Be sure to check for dead pixels - there have been cases.
After the purchase:

  • Overclock to at least 1GHz
  • Install latest firmware
  • Activate host mod
  • Install firmware from the community - www.nokiamaemo.ru/n900/proshivki-n900/727-kak-ustanovit-obnovleniya-cssu-na-n900.html
  • Add additional repositories:
    Maemo Extras-Devel
    Web address - repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
    Distribution - fremantle
    Components - free non-free
    Maemo Extras-Testing
    Web address - repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/
    Distribution — fremantle
    Components — free non-free

If you don’t feel sorry for the money, then buy a case - you need to take care of such a device

Isn't it too late? They are also hard to find for sale.
If new, then there are no initial glitches.
Immediately flash to the latest version of Maya.
How to sew, etc. can be found on the Internet (http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php), what to install right away - there are a couple of articles on Habré.

I had two N900s.
I bought the first one as soon as it came out, six months ago I bought another one - because there are no new ones anymore.
If you wake up to take a new one, there can only be software glitches. They are solved by flashing and installing an update from the community.
Personally, I don’t see anything better for myself than the N900 at all, I had SGS, Desire Z, HD2, Hero, Tattoo - android is a stripped-down nonentity. With these phones, I could not go longer than a month, I constantly sold them. Naturally, there was also an iphone 4, much nicer than an android, but again, some kind of stripped down one. I feel the n900 is my phone forever.
Soon N9 will be released on me, so I'll look at it. They say a good replacement for the n900, but there is no physical keyboard :( However, there is an N950, but I'm afraid I won't get it ... otherwise I would give any money for it.
PS After purchase, flash it with a flasher and install an update from the community (CSSU) and enable interface hardware acceleration.

On the power connector - I advise you to file the protruding parts at the plug with a file (those on the wide part of the trapezoid). And glue the connector in the phone with superglue.

Here, everywhere everyone advises to saw off the protruding parts on the plug, and once they saved me a lot and the phone did not hit the floor. If you carefully remove and insert, then it is not necessary to saw them off. I didn't cut it and everything is fine.
