What topic for a term paper can I take on parallel computing?

What topic would you recommend for a term paper on parallel computing? I am a 3rd year student. Now there is an idea to implement a parallelized ray tracing rendering. Having tried JPVM(Java parallel virtual machine), OpenMC, OpenCL. Is this acceptable or is it better to take something more serious?

If you use a ready-made slider script, and it does NOT have adaptability, then when you change styles, it may NOT start working correctly.
I can recommend: owl or slick
