What to do if the answer after the interview from the company may be delayed?

Business etiquette question.

In short: the company promised to make a decision on my candidacy as soon as possible; but I don’t even want to lose a couple of days, especially if there is an offer from another company.

If more, then.

Now looking for employment. I am negotiating with 2 companies:

  1. In one I was already at the interview, now they are making a decision
  2. In the second, they expressed their readiness to accept for an interview

Making a decision in the first company will take about a week. I don't want downtime. If I contact the second company that yes, I am ready for an interview, it will be embarrassing if the first company accepts me and I have to interrupt negotiations on cooperation with the second company. Simply put, on the one hand, I don't want any downtime, on the other hand, it's embarrassing to initiate a break in negotiations.

Should I write to the second company that I agree to an interview before I get an answer from the first company?

PS. Sorry for the confusion of presentation, if any.

"Question of business etiquette" - no, the question of your cockroaches in your head.

calmly talk in the second third, fourth.
embarrassing - these are your cockroaches, expel.
in general, I advise you to look at life easier and accept a little cynicism without drinking, because:
- the company is not your family, not your mother, not your father, not your sexual partner;
- you do not join the samurai order and do not sign anything in blood (I hope);
- you have mutually beneficial situational cooperation, sooner or later you will outgrow your company and move on and that's fine , in case of any problems and changes you will be easily and without much moral torment put out of the door (at best with compensation) and that's fine ;
- Get the romance out of your head and think about your interests first.
good luck.

. I don't want downtime.

Well, if you don't want to, don't stop. The company is not obliged to follow your wishes.
In a good case, a normal company hires a person not for a couple of days, but for years. It is quite reasonable to think for several days or even weeks, consider different candidates and only then choose. In large companies, hiring a person can be accompanied by a relocation, which itself can take a couple of months.
Your ethical torment is again your personal problem. Agreeing to an interview does not mean accepting the offer. Some even work in companies and are not even going to change jobs, but go to interviews.

And what is it about interrupting negotiations, as if there is something important or a matter worth many billions
? Vaughn Tinkoff interrupted negotiations with Yandex for $ 5 billion and nothing, both did not die.
There is a saying for the demand of money is not taken.
Some obligations between people and companies arise after the signing of a contract, in this case, a labor contract. Until then, it's just free chatter.
