USB flash drives
Sergey, 2015-03-09 17:09:00

What technologies to focus on when buying a flash drive for long-term and reliable operation?

There is software with binding to a flash drive. And not very cheap. What to look for when buying it? The flash drive is written to the seller once. Then mostly read-only.

The flash drive will die sooner or later. You need to focus on the possibility of having a backup :-) A very dubious offer is to bind the software to a flash drive if the seller does not give you the opportunity to change the drive in case of an accident.
About the types of NAND memory is popularly described here:

Another such moment, flash drives often die at the moment of connection. So no "hot" - only "cold". Turned off the computer, then inserted the flash drive. I would turn it off as well. And the battery was pulled out of the laptop :) so that the power to the USB was not supplied.
