Is it possible to combine bootable and standard purpose of a flash drive?

I want to make my USB 3.0 16Gb flash drive bootable and store files on it at the same time. Will this work fine? If yes, how to do it?

What's stopping you from doing this, a bootable USB flash drive doesn't care what you store on it.
