Power Supply

What power supply is needed for 19 HDD?

I want to build a BDSM RAIDZ-2 from 18 HDD + 1HDD for the system. Don't ask why or why.
Interested in whether the whole thing will pull a regular 400-watt PSU. After all, according to calculations, it seems to be:
20 disks, let it be 12 watts each, then 240 watts. Pentium 4 percent + hard drive for the system + everything else I think eats 50-100 watts.
The same sheaf only with 10+1 HDD - works. It's just dumb to connect 8 more disks.

Starting currents are important and how many watts a PSU can give along 12V lines. Not every power supply is able to offer this.

- Not only 12V is important to you, but also 5V
- starting currents for such a number of disks will probably not allow, besides, the line will probably not draw 5V
- do you already have hba for such a number of disks or are you just planning to? If not yet, there are models that can sequentially spin up disks to reduce inrush currents, but I don’t think it will save, after all, 400W is too little.
Moreover, the old percent and old hardware are not very energy efficient
. And as you rightly noted, you shouldn’t make 1 array from that many discs. 18 is very well divisible by 3, 3 arrays of 5 disks directly suggest itself and for each array 1 hotspare disk

"After all, according to the calculations, it seems like it should," well, they themselves answered the same
