What part of the page is analyzed by search engines?

When analyzing uniqueness, nausea, etc., do search engines analyze the entire page (and the text in the footer, and keywords in the menu, and other content), or just the text part?

Some kind of hybrid system could be used there. At forums to check both answers and title. On normal home pages, only the title. News portals have a title, news text, comments. They can filter and additionally check tags, css and more.

The content of the entire page is analyzed and the text from the menu or footer can be taken into account when ranking.
