What OS architecture (64 or 32) should be installed on the Intel Atom N450?

I want to change Windows 7 (32) on my Samsung N220-JB01 netbook.
The goal is to speed things up.
Processor - Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz.
The manufacturer claims that the processor supports 64 bits , but at the same time, the maximum supported memory is only 2 GB.
Hence the question: Is it worth installing a 64-bit version of the OS, given 2 GB of memory? Will there be at least a slight increase in speed?
If yes, what is better to install Windows XP/7/8.1/10?

Leave what is. A 64-bit axis will not give acceleration, and it will eat more memory (compare their system requirements). Under the older axis (XP) most likely there are no drivers.
To speed up, just plug in an ssd.
Perhaps Linux experts will advise something lightweight, but it seems that the question about Linux is not in question.
I will add that I tried to put 10-ku on the Asus netbook. There were problems with the video card. Returned 7.

memory - only 2 GB.
Up to 4GB set 32. Eats less memory.
Will there be at least a slight increase in speed?
The increase will be if you add RAM. At 2GB everything rests on it.

It is better to put 10. She seems to eat less than seven. 8.1 I do not advise on a netbook - metro apps will not work.
And so - put 32 bits. The increase from 64 bits will be only in 64-bit applications, I doubt that you have many of them.

Let the experts answer, of course, but if there are no very specific tasks, then the bit depth was mainly increased for the sake of supporting RAM.
On the axes: purely subjective, 7 is faster than XP, and 8.1/10 is faster than 7. Although 8 is slower. But this is if it gets up and if you normally digest Metro, because not everyone does it.

dig the Internet for an upgrade to the 10-ku of your laptop.
my Asus eee pc 1201n with 330 atom digests 10-ku better than native 7-ku starter.
(for those interested - only the asus acpi driver did not start, from the broken one - the buttons pressed with FN. The rest works fine).

Yes, the general rule works - more than 4GB you can think of x64, less - definitely x32. However, for me personally it would be controversial - whether to put x64 on, let's say, a "personal computer". With a server, it's different, definitely yes, but with, for example, a personal laptop - probably not.
It is much more important IMHO to keep the license you have for the OS. She's worth the money. And Upgrading / downgrading versions is not always acceptable ...

In practice, the usefulness of a 64-bit OS lies in the ability to work with more than 4 gigabytes of memory.
And installing a 64-bit OS on hardware with less than 4GB of RAM is, firstly, useless, because it’s of no use, and secondly, it’s harmful, because it needs more memory to work, and you won’t have free memory for applications.

1. The limitation of the motherboard of this netbook is 2 GB of RAM.
2. No drivers were developed for 64-bit systems. (Samsung about this series)
In this regard, it makes little sense to install a 64-bit system, except for the sake of sports interest - to wrestle with iron.
On my netbook, 8.1 32 bit with a cropped Metro turned out to be the fastest, Win10 SL will be very promising, but so far there is no time for experiments.

And how do you think changing the bitness of an integer should speed up the work?
All of us techies know that a little more than 4 billion fits into 32 bits, but even more fits into 64 bits, but **** how should this speed up that program?

I installed Win8x64, I do not advise you to install it. WinXP is the fastest. So not worth it.

If you only have 2GB of memory, then of course install the 32-bit version of the OS!

x32 is installed with memory up to 4 GB of RAM,
x64 is installed with memory from 4 GB of RAM and >.
Install Windows 7 x32 and optimize the OS by closing the extra stuff in startup and don't install extra stuff, only what you need.
