... but if you need quality and up to 10 seconds, then IMHO you should look towards FLAC
It is not said what purposes it is planned to use sound: musical compositions, conversation/telephony/VoIP, sounding of games, accompanying sound signals to the program (polyphonic melodies), MIDI?
