What media should I choose to store photos and videos?
Good day to all. Over ten years, a lot of photos and videos have accumulated in digital form, I want to save them, but you can’t print everything, so I wondered what is the best way to store such information, ideally I wanted to make storage out of an old computer (buy a hard one for this business), but not I know how reliable it is and whether it makes sense to copy from one hard drive to another. In general, we need recommendations from experienced people in choosing and buying a reliable hard drive for these purposes for a reasonable price, and generally advice on storing such data. At the moment, part of it is stored on a portable company wd, the other part is on a disk from a laptop.

Considering the volume (the videos are likely to be large) and the type of data (it is unlikely that regular online access is needed), it probably makes sense to buy a couple of large hard drives and make two copies of the archive.
Two disks - in terms of greater reliability. Ideally, buy them in different places, so that they are from different batches and each one goes to us on his own.
From the point of view of the drive manufacturer, I would take Hitachi (HGST), or the top WDs, which are actually HGST (see the product photo). Another option is Toshiba (they also have drives that were Hitachi), but some of their models can occasionally be weird.
2-3 hard drives (data copy) - cheapest and most reliable. Especially if they are in different buildings.
