What is the name of this hard drive slot in a laptop?

I want to replace this hdd with ssd or sshd. Haven't made a choice yet. I know that this laptop only supports one hard drive and there is no way to cram 2 into it (except maybe an external hard drive via usb).
What is the name of this hard drive connector in a laptop?
Is it possible to connect sshd to this connector?
Is it better to take a big ssd (but it's expensive) or sshd?
Does it make sense to buy an external ssd drive (if Windows is on the internal hdd, will the speeds in working with an external ssd be large?)?
Thank you for attention.

Yes.

SSD expensive? I wouldn't say very expensive.

The speed does not depend on which storage device (disk) is installed is visible. The speed depends on the quality of the connection. connection interface.
For example, if you connect a high-quality USB 3.0 cable, bought in a normal store and costing a little more than shawarma, it will work much better and longer than a cable bought from Uncle Mite in a shop around the corner, for a good 30 pieces of silver. Do you dare?)

The connector is regular SATA.
Any 2.5" SATA hard drive will work.
HDD is a good thing for storing data, but it's better not to put the system on it because the brakes will be .. For ten years now, all the system has been installed on SSD.
SSD - ideal for the system. The price tag is now low. For a laptop, the optimal size is 240-500GB. This is 2.5-5 thousand rubles.
SHDD is a rather rare animal, it is certainly better than HDD in terms of system installation, but not by much. In general, I do not see the point in them.

Of course not.
SSD is good when working with small files, you need to install the system on it.
And as an external SSD they choose for other reasons -
1) Compactness - a flash drive a couple of terabytes in size a little larger than a lighter.
2) Not afraid of blows.
3) High speed - the USB3 interface is important here. It makes sense if the disk will be used as an installation disk, or the database will be placed on it, or the system is mobile.
