What is the most secure data storage method currently in use?

Accumulated over the years a bunch of pictures. On what would all this be saved until the screw died? What method of data storage is the most reliable today? After all, the screw, in addition to being afraid of vibrations, is also afraid of power surges in the home electrical network. Flash drives are also, probably not more ideal. Cloud? Probably, the cloud can also be covered with a copper basin, as a result of some geopolitical perturbations ...
We are talking about the amount of data - 1 TB of photo, audio, video.

The most reliable way is to back up to different media in different locations.
With a small chance, even the Arctic storage can be destroyed by a meteorite or some other cataclysm.
Even if you have a super unreliable media that fails the next day with a 50% chance, but you have 100 backups, then the chance of all copies dying in one day will be about zero.

The most reliable way to save files is a 3-2-1-0 strategy

  • Have at least three instances of the file (original and two backups)
  • Store backups on at least two different types of media (screws, optics, cloud)
  • One copy must lie somewhere far away (for example, a remote server)
  • And preferably in a place that is not accessible via the network (portable screw), or protected from modification (network drive on XFS)
  • We regularly check the backups for integrity.

Well, purely for backup - the best option DVD / BLU-RAY.
Long term "life" (at least 20 years), compactness.

1 copy - in your hands. On disk
2 copy - let's say mail cloud
3 copy - let's say google\hetzner\any foreign one of your choice

Any S3 storage. Yes, the bills there will be f*cked for a terabyte, but the reliability is very high. You will give a couple of housekeepers a month for sure.
And it still depends on the requirements. Whether frequent automated synchronization is needed or not.
There is such a scheme.
1) Storing the main copy on your computer. For quick access.
2) External drive.
3) A cloud from Yandex or soap. There for a year for a kasar-two you can buy a subscription.
All this is managed by some constantly spinning self-written demon. Accordingly, this daemon, when performing any operations (deleting or loading), writes operations to the tasks and, when connected to the Internet, performs all tasks with the cloud, and with an external disk, it is also absolutely.
Any two points from such a scheme already give a great guarantee of data safety. All three together - give such reliability, which breaks down only in the event of a nuclear apocalypse, and that is not a fact.
It is also the cheapest option. A cloud for a year will come out for a couple of thousand and an outsider of several thousand will rise.
