What is the difference between webdav and samba and which is better?

Hello everyone, the question is actually in the title. I basically found out that it's an http+record, but I'm interested in their security. In smb'e, I read that the sent packets need to be encrypted, as it were, over, and in dav'e this can be organized at the protocol level. Right?
