What is the difference between vm Ha and Fault tolerance?

Hello, I don’t understand what is the difference between Ha and Fault tolerance, I know I read how it all works, but the question is, in what mode should storage be used?
as I know on Fault tolerance (Active Active) there can be no storage that replication goes
And on HA (Active Passive) storage is necessary
I understood correctly?

No, you misunderstood. Both technologies require virtual machines to be on shared storage.
