Video cards
Sergey, 2021-05-10 22:24:53

What video card will be optimal?

I welcome everyone!
I'm trying to figure out which card is better to choose for use under the ESXi 6.5 hypervisor

Task: work on a VM (Win) in Solidworks / Inventor.
The main thing is that it transfers normally and the drivers get up ... The experience with the forwarding of the GeForce 690 ended in failure, I tried all the options and methods ...

Let there be a choice of methods:
a) Quadro K4000,
b) Grid K2 on 8Gb,
c) Grid K1 on 16Gb and
d) Tesla K40 on 12Gb.

It seems to be on the idea of Quadro, but maybe Grid will go? And Tesla definitely WILL NOT work?

Greetings.
Judging by the comments, if the vidyashka is visible in the virtual machine, then everything is fine with the forwarding itself, and not normally with the drivers. Everything is simple here, nvidia at the driver level does not allow custom vidyashkas to work in virtual machines (at least in esxi - for sure). Option 2:
1. Buy specialized video cards tailored for GPU virtualization
2. If you only need to transfer a piece of hardware to one virtual machine, buy any video card from Radeon - it works perfectly for me on Hewlett servers starting with g7 :)
