What is the difference between a bootable flash drive and a live usb?
A very stupid question, but I'm trying to make a flash drive with which I could go into a portable OS (in my case I have a clean win 7 image at hand) , with ostentatious formatting from the command line, which can be done with 3 mouse clicks, or using shaitan programs that create vhd images with Windows. Did on these tutorials - it turns out the usual INSTALLATION flash drive, with which you can not boot into the portable OS.
Attention question: what does "bootable" mean? From it it is possible to LOAD or not?
If it is possible, is there an analysis of how exactly an instal iso image can work in live mode? Or do you need a special image with some windows pe? In short, how to do everything with pens, without programs?
I searched for information in both Russian and English and realized that either I don’t understand the meaning of the word bootable, or my image is somehow wrong, because I see only the installation, and I don’t see any menu with the choice of live loading.
Thank you.

The term "live" CD / DVD / USB is a drive that allows you to boot from it and run one (or several) operating systems and work in it.
The term "bootable" (bootable) is broader, includes all the previous ones, but also options such as boot disks for installing the OS (OS installation disk), for running some kind of service programs (testing and restoring disks) and not involving arbitrary work in OS (and the presence of an OS on this disk in general).
As a result, the installation beginsOn the second installation screen, you can interrupt it and go to the service part (link at the bottom of the screen).
