If you want to improve your level of English for simple communication, then it is better to start reading news from resources such as Buzzfeed. It will be much more interesting for you to read and easier to understand what it is about.

I like CNN Student News (every issue has a transcript, but it went on summer break until August 15) and CBS Evening News .

It is better to read fiction books, and it is better to watch the news. I found that CNN and BBC are pretty fast talking, but Russia Today and Al Jazeera (don't think that I'm calling you to Muslims, there are regular news and conversations with guests) are just right. There is also Euro News, but there are repetitions every half an hour.
