What is the advantage of an access point over a router?

Good afternoon.
I would like to clarify what is the fundamental difference between the access point over the router ..? Does the access point have advantages ..
Why did you think ..
The access point connects to the router and allows you to create your own network .. You can also connect the router to the router and it will also allow you to create a network.
But, for some reason, access points are more expensive than routers with the same parameters ..
Why is that? What is the advantage of an access point?

Hm. The question makes sense only in the aspect "what is the advantage of an access point over an access point combined with a router", otherwise it is something from the category "compare a toad with a motorcycle".
An access point with a router (and also a switch for 3-4 ports) is a common household device. It is designed to organize a low-load connection to the Network - 3-5 subscribers, with a larger number, lags and freeze brakes will begin. As a rule, there is a trimmed linux inside, there is usually no terminal, there is only a web muzzle. Therefore, ordinary management is designed for an ordinary person, not a specialist. Such devices are very fond of breaking - opened it and the whole internal network is yours. And they break them due to the fact that very often people do not even change the admin password.
Just about the access point. It can be an ordinary household device (for example, it is at my house), and a more specialized one - with external antennas, with a metal case, for outdoor installation, etc. Its purpose is usually only to transfer the connection from the air to the wire, another device is usually involved in all network affairs. The use of just an access point in a home network increases its security - unless, of course, another device is Linux, and not another TP-Link :)

routers are able to natit, keep external connections like pppoe and other little things in life. the access point is deprived of it. due to which the percentage is weaker and it is cheaper
