What happens if you renew such a domain?

The domain was owned. A few days before its end, I ordered in the control panel, but did not pay the invoice for renewal. The unpaid invoice is still hanging and the payment links are active. But the domain was taken away immediately after I didn’t pay for it (most likely automatically). Now it is not clear whose, it is unlikely to be returned, but I wonder what will happen if you still try to pay the bill? :)

It seems to me that you should contact the registrar's technical support service :)
They know better what will happen next.

How much time has passed?
Within a month, the domain is still yours and will be returned upon payment, at least it was the case with Ru-Center.

And what does whois say about this domain now? If you pay the bill, the money will go to the balance in your personal account, but since there is no service, they will not be written off anywhere, and they will lie.

Depends on.
In some zones (in ru, for example) 30 days are given for renewal after the registration period has ended. In some, they don't.
If the domain is from the zone where there is no intermediate period, then after payment the money will be returned to the registrar's internal account.
But they are right about the clarification in the support.
