What happens if you install two versions of .NET at once?

I have .NET 4 which I use and under which I write.
I decided to put the Promt translator here. And it is installed immediately with .NET 3.5 and this cannot be canceled in any way.
What to do? Possible negative consequences? What will become of the CLR - what version will it run?
