What happens if I open a lot of programs, browsers, editors in Ubuntu and type sudo shutdown -h now in the terminal?

When I worked in Windows, there was a close all utility that turned off all running programs at once, and this was convenient. I'm interested in what happens if I close many programs at once on various virtual tables in Ubuntu. What will be the consequences of this action? Can I crash everything with one command, or do I need to go through each desktop and close each running program?

Everything will close on its own and the computer will turn off.
