Debian-based OS with low memory consumption?

I choose an OS for the virtual machine, the latest Ubuntu requires a lot of memory.
The computer only has 2gb of RAM.

Install a minimal Debian (no GUI or anything) and install some OpenBox.
You can keep within 100-150mb at the start. With Firefox, you can live comfortably with 2GB RAM.
