What framework/library to use with Phonegap?

We need to make a small application for the tablet. In addition to routing, localization and entering numbers from a custom keyboard, there will be nothing there. A long time ago there was an experience of such development - I used jquery mobile. It's the 21st century now and I don't want to touch it. Soul lies to reaction.
In short, we need performance, and given the size of the application, you can even do something exotic, such as elm or cljs. Question: how does all this fit in with Phonegap's capriciousness and performance?
