What does a graphics card need to support VR?

I'm looking for a video card for Oculus Rift DK2, it seems I've already made my choice, when I suddenly read a comment.

I thought that in order to start VR, the appropriate power of the video card is enough, was I wrong? Clarify please.
Thank you for your time.

There, in the review, a person writes about the disclosure of the card by the system and beyond, so you can not perceive it at all. Regarding support, perhaps it means compliance with technical requirements, together with a powerful video card you will be able to use the glasses to the maximum of their capabilities, and with a weak one you will get FPS drawdowns and minimal graphics settings.
Just google the requirements of this model of glasses for a video card, I've done it and there, in the category of minimal cards, the cards are much weaker than 1050ti.
