What compromise can be found for the trouble-free operation and correct operation of an external hard drive that is used regularly on Mac OS and Windows?

PS Looked after Paragon, but something is not praised for complaining that supposedly some tails remain on the disk from time to time, and what is even worse - files are damaged.
Is it so?
