Scaled resolution mode on macbook retina 13?

The diagonal of the MacBook is 13.3 inches, which, of course, is not very large and often not very convenient to work with. In the monitor settings there is a scaling menu that changes the resolution. It's convenient for me to use the resolution as 1440*900 to the right of the "default", it fits more. Question: how harmful is it to use such permission for a macbook and how? How exactly does it affect performance?
Thank you!

I have been using it since the beginning. No problems were noticed.

Well, as far as I understand, you have chosen a resolution less than native. It doesn't hurt the laptop at all. And the performance does not fall from reducing the resolution, but rather, on the contrary, it increases

It's not harmful in any way, another question is that the battery will run down really faster, because you have an even higher resolution rendered.
