What components of the computer determine the support of certain operating systems?

I once read about hardware and saw that a particular computer component can determine whether a certain OS will work or not.
I don't remember the details.
Like it was connected with the mat. board and its chipset (or not).
For example, that some new motherboards will not support windows 7, but only windows 10.
Is this true or have I messed up something?
If this is true, please tell me where exactly you can read about it.

These are not components, but drivers define.
windows 7 works great on any modern processor, just like windows xp itself.
But the driver is sometimes difficult to find.

The OS theoretically can support anything, but until you have the right driver, then there is no kagba support.
Therefore, everything depends on the manufacturer of the device (chipset), whether the manufacturer wants to release a driver for a particular old OS.
A popular situation is that there are simply no drivers for Windows 7 for a new PC with a new motherboard and a new chipset.
The presence of a driver does not affect sales at all, no one chooses a modern computer in terms of compatibility with an outdated version of the OS.

The problem will be in the firewood on the built-in devices. Windows on such a mother will either not get up at all or will constantly fall into a blue screen.

All OS can be installed only with drivers, the problem will be on the motherboard (there is no support from the manufacturer for Windows 7, there will be no driver)
