What can you earn at 50?

Good afternoon!
My question is:
Is it possible for a person at the age of 50 to learn something to work via the Internet or another type of independent income? And if so, what area should be proposed?
My father will probably soon be laid off, due to the crisis, 2 waves of layoffs have already passed at his plant. In the 3rd wave, 90% of it falls under the reduction. Since I am a freelancer myself, he asked what he could do like this ... since it is difficult to find work in our city at his age - this is either a watchman or a taxi driver. Neither is clearly the best option.
With a computer and the Internet, he is "friends" well.
To be honest, I don’t even know what to offer him ...
Thank you in advance for the answers!

Purely online, you can find a lot of things to earn money at any age. Examples:
1) develop sites (there is a 55-year-old acquaintance of a man who does this)
2) write articles (an electrician writes to us about electrical wiring for 49 years)
3) a moderator of forums of specific narrow topics, in which a person is an expert
Offline:
1) set up ATS-ki
2) Mess around with 1C or macros for Word
3) Repair and refill printers
4) Learn to install and configure all kinds of alarms, video surveillance systems

You would not have fussed in advance until he was reduced, but would have asked him what he really wants. What he can do, what he knows, whether he is morally ready to learn something new. What does he need for this?
It's just that there are a lot of storytellers who were just lucky at some point to be at the right moment and in the right place. So they say that everything is simple and easy with making money on the Internet.
But in fact, everything is much tougher, and everyone is trying to devour each other, and there are a lot of smart people in all areas, and everyone wants to eat, and will tear their hair on the fifth point to get some penny. (+ given the current situation)
+ An aggravating factor is a possible reduction. After all, situations when life hits, then the blow comes from all sides and at once. If he had long ago had an extra. earnings in the form of something there on the Internet, then this is one thing, but abruptly changing employment from one area to another is very difficult.
I want to disappoint you that nothing really will work out if he himself sincerely does not want it, and strives to learn and bend under someone else's will. And given that you are his son, it will be more difficult for him to do this at times.
Let him find something to his liking.
What, the hands of the men working in the factories are growing out of their asses?
Or is the snot leaking? I don't believe in life.
================================================= =
Find out from him what he is interested in doing? Maybe he has a hobby? Let him develop his hobby with the means slipped by you (the same freelance in a narrow specialization).
+ Now all sorts of video bloggers are popular, and if there are hands and brains, then I think there will be material.

I once saw an online store from the inside. A two-room apartment, cluttered with shelving, two grandmothers work for 60-70 years. One scribbles accounts on a computer and speaks on the phone, the second equips orders - everything is in the former kitchen. Two old grandmas and couriers.

1C as an option, my colleague's dad just started doing this upon retirement.
Serves small desks, and brains work and money drips

If an engineer, and even with production experience ... Design engineer with knowledge of AutoCad and SolidWorks, or from the field of PCad electronics, etc. - there is a real demand for freelancers. Today there are few competent designers with real work experience.

Affiliates. For example, the popular Aliexpress - there are millions of goods, buyers are everywhere, it is enough to swipe them through your link (up to a month) before buying. Starting from the banal VKontakte group with interesting products, ending with Direct and Adwords.
In fact, there are endless sources of traffic - there are thoughts to roam.

on everything, there would be a desire for knowledge
to learn - it is difficult, but the result is worth it.
3D modeling, Unity3D.

Hello, age can be omitted, it is not important, the question is initially incorrect, ask what he would like himself, you can start any business on the Internet by selling your experience, ask your father a question, what is interesting to him, not knowing the interests of a person, it’s stupid for him to advise.

Yandex Direct - you can make good money, it's not difficult, there are free courses, the main thing is that you can find customers. A friend of mine took courses from Yandex itself in 2 months and is doing great, and now her income will increase even more because she is mastering Google Adwords.

If with computers on "you", then you can try to take on the service of some small companies - hardware / printers / simple setup, still add 1C and there will be customers.

Alternatively, you can try photography, for example, not to take photos of nude models, but for example, upload your photos of normal quality to photo banks. And there for each HD resolution photo from $ 5-20, and they have sales of 20-30 pieces per month.

By the age of 50, a person is an expert in many areas, let him choose a niche, start blogging and gain an audience, and then, as usual, learn to sell something to this audience.

Depends on a person. First, it is better to look for a specialty, if there are no vacancies, but there is a tower, then you can try to get a job as a teacher. If you don’t feel like it, you can be a security guard, if you don’t like it, then you can go to the nearest large city and look for work there.
You can also look for work related to cars one way or another - a master inspector in car services, etc.
Or an auto parts sales manager.
Who seeks will always find. In other words, keep looking until you find it.

For example, to get a job in another company, as a front-end developer, to create websites.
Or do the same, working for yourself.
