The other day a computer was bought, or rather parts of it. After assembling and turning it on for the first time, it smelled burnt and I immediately turned it off. The next time you try to start, it does not turn on. There are no signs of burning inside, only the smell. I don’t know what the problem is, because everything seems to be connected correctly. Please help me figure out what could be the problem.

You have not described enough. There are two options:
When you press the power button, it does not react in any way, that is, the cooler does not spin and the cooler is also in the power supply, then check the power supply separately, connect the green wire to the 24-pin block with any black one, if the cooler spins, then bp normal and then look further.
If the computer starts up, that is, the cooler is spinning but there is no image on the monitor, check all connections, whether the memory is sitting well in the slot, it is better to completely disable everything except the 24th and 4th pin blocks, and leave the power sw to turn on.
If the bp has flown, you can safely carry it in the guarantee.
If the mother is burned and it can be seen, then they will hardly change you.
In my practice, there were cases when people changed mothers and did not pay attention to the racks for mounting the motherboard, as a result, new mothers were killed.
