What are the options for working with PSD for the developer, except for Photoshop'a?

Good afternoon.
I develop mobile applications, there are ready-made designs in PSD.
I want to turn them into the sprites I need. There is Expression Blend, Expression Design, but it refuses to open files larger than 10MB (maybe there is not enough memory, 4GB in total).
What are the options? GIMP did not try, all online utilities are miserable and do not work.
I don’t really want to break Photoshop either, but I don’t see any other options yet.

You don't have to break photoshop. I have a subscription to Adobe CC for 300 rubles per month, only photoshop is included in the tariff. I think if you are a qualified application developer, then 300 rubles per month for the tool you need is not expensive.

None.
Although slightly complex PSD files that are not opened in Photoshop always look different than in Photoshop itself. Something is distorted, something disappears ... And the worst thing is, you never know what exactly was distorted when you opened it. Same issue when opening Microsoft Office files in Open Office.
Ask the authors of PSD files to send you pictures in the form of a simple raster, such as PNG, which is unambiguously interpreted by all editors. Or use Photoshop itself.

If you do not need printing and layer styles, then you can work in Gimp.
