What are the characteristic differences between RFID and NFC?

Hey!
What is the difference between the two protocols? Well, yes, one has a higher reading range, the other has a limited one. Why do smartphones use NFC?
Are there really worthwhile advantages of one over the other?

These are not protocols and cannot be compared.
NFC is a special case of the development of RFID technologies using a frequency of 13.56 MHz.

NFC is a set of standards that includes some parts of RFID technology (and not vice versa, as they say here), specifically - ISO / IEC 18000-3 (and there are six parts of this standard alone and a dozen others related to RFID), respectively It's impossible to compare the two.
