Is it possible to scan the radio air with a standard laptop WiFi modem?

There is an XBee device with its own custom protocol at 2.4 GHz.
For as yet unknown reasons, it is impossible to connect via wire from a PC, however, to check whether the module is live or not, the idea arose to scan the air at these frequencies.
Is it possible to implement this with a standard WiFi or BLE laptop modem? In theory, the processes of demodulation, filtering and digitization are encapsulated in such devices, but suddenly there are some ideas)

@Surpassing

as suggested above - kali linux or backbox
, the main thing is to check that your module can switch to monitoring mode.
