What are secure Whois services?

Somehow, foolishly, I decided to check whether Privacy Protection works on my domain. Without thinking twice, I went to who.is. It turned out that my personal data flaunted there. But this is half the trouble. Who.is saves this information and demands loot for its removal. This is their business :)
Tell me the services that do not deal with such nonsense directly or indirectly (merge to others)
