.webp not working in safari, how to fix it?

Hello, I have all the pictures on the site (except for the logo) in the .webp format (for optimization),
I have an iPhone XR and the pictures are displayed correctly in safari,
pictures are not displayed on a friend's iPhone 5s and in safari.
what is the reason? can it be fixed?

The webp format is not universally supported by browsers. You can see it here https://caniuse.com/?search=webp
To fix it, also include images in png or jpg format. The browser will think if I support webp, I will download webp, if not, I will download in another format. To do this, use the picture tag in your html.

older iPhones (where the iOS update no longer comes) don't have WEBP display implemented.
