VMware, is it possible to remove the image after installation?

Installed OS from ISO image on WMWare Workstation. Can this image be removed after installation or is it still required to work?

What OS?
The image itself is not needed, of course.
If we are talking about Windows, then it copies almost everything to the "necessary folders" and the distribution kit may be needed (and even then not always) only when adding components, restoring and other cases.
