VMWare how to set up networking in a virtual machine?
I create a virtual machine in VMWare ESXi 5.5, windows 2008 r2, set the MAC address, install the net framework, set the IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway, DNS addresses in the Internet connection settings. I try to connect to the machine via Remote Desktop Connection, it does not connect, there is not even any response from the machine. What am I doing wrong?

How is your vswitch set up? Apparently you have not configured a network, or rather, vm network is not configured. Is anything being pinged from the VM? Do you have permission to connect via rdp?
