Virtualization in Windows. What programs can you recommend?
Good time of day!
For a long time I have been haunted by the idea that I want to have a means of restriction (mainly I am interested in restricting access to the file system, but also: interprocess interactions, the registry, etc. would be even better, of course :)) programs on windows.
I googled quite a lot of time on this and see the following directions:
- Sandboxie - almost perfectly satisfies the requirements, but I don't really like the license, I would like Opensource. But in general, I will be glad to hear your comments about this software. Maybe you know its close analogues?
- VMWare Thinapp - a bit further than sandboxie. But the main problem is the cost.
- Chromium Sandbox - did not figure out to the end what kind of beast, if someone used it - I will be glad to hear your opinion!
- Full virtualization (virtualbox, etc.) - I think it's an overkill, for my tasks + it's very difficult
- Perhaps there is some kind of native means for restricting applications or WinApi?
It is necessary for me that requests to the FS are redirected to the "sandbox" - as I understand it, this is exactly how sandboxie works. Those. just a variant with windows'sky restriction of access to folders - not an option.
I'm definitely interested in the possibility of working from the console, tk. I don’t want to bother with the interface of the program that manages sandboxes. (Again, sandboxie has a console interface)
