Using printer on 64bit W7 from 32bit XP?

The network is working, the printer is visible, the drivers are installed. When you try to print, the program that caused the print hangs. What to do?

I solved exactly the same problem by installing the appropriate UPD versions on both machines

Try turning off the "Bi-directional communication" checkbox in the printer properties. In general, from experience (we have similar printers, HP LJ P1005, a whole pack) - it is extremely difficult to make them work over a network on different operating systems. If two XP are online, everything is ok. All other configs (Vista / 7) - a lot of problems, freezes, and so on. It is quite possible that the most working option would be to purchase a usb print server (if this printer will work through it).
