Upgrading a weak laptop, is it worth it?

I have such a question, I decided to update my old laptop a little with the following specifications: pentium b960 2.20 Ghz 500gb RAM 2GB video card geforce gtx 540m win7 32bit
I want to increase the amount of RAM and change the percentage The
question is, what is the maximum amount of RAM I can put there ( memory type ddr3 2 slots)?
can i change the processor?
besides that, what else would you advise an inexperienced user?

a few simple questions
what socket does your processor have?
What chipset does the mother have?
did the manufacturer have models with adult stones in the line of your laptop?
The sum of these answers will give you your answer.
look for the manufacturer's manual for assembly / disassembly and maintenance.
most likely there will be a list of processors. Well, read the history of bios updates.

Add more memory to the maximum and install an SSD. You won't do anything more.

You can’t change the processor so easily, you will need to change the motherboard as well. It’s better to sell this one for the maximum possible amount and buy another one (you can also use it, in good condition)

Add at least 2 more GB of RAM, instead of a drive, add a 120 GB SSD. And instead of windows, put some kind of lightweight linux distribution like Lubuntu or, for a less painless transition, linux mint. It's better to sell it and buy a new one
