Ubuntu does not see / read the flash drive, etc.?

Hello! I needed to quickly transfer a file from a smartphone to a laptop, the laptop is running Ubuntu 20.10, and when I connected the smartphone via USB, Ubuntu saw it, but could not read its files. I know that Ubuntu's file system is different, and therefore does not read , but how can I solve this problem? Thanks for the replies in advance.

1) A smartphone can share its files in several different ways:

  1. block device - like a flash drive (only possible for additional memory, since it requires exclusive access);
  2. network file system - NFS or NetBIOS, or maybe something more third;
  3. special protocol that gives access to programs like "explorer", but does not give normal access to files.
First you need to find out the access mode: many smartphones allow you to set it.
For the first two options, you may need to mount the file system. For the third - look for a "guide" who knows how to use this protocol.
For the second and third options - you may need to configure the network, starting with IP addresses.
Or maybe it's better to transfer files via a network (WiFi for a smartphone, WiFi or a cable for a laptop). Especially if there is direct access from one to another.
