Alternatively, do not share, but connect to the guest machine via WinSCP and edit files in the same Notepad ++, for example. There are also IDEs that can work with remote directories.
If you want to work with ext4 on Windows, you can use Ext2explore www.ext2fsd.com
You will only need to share the partition in VirtualBox.
