Ubuntu 18 crashes when trying to open settings, what to do?

At some point, I discovered that when I try to open Settings, it throws me into the authorization window. At the same time, authorization is terribly slow. after entering the password, I get back into the system and everything works fine until the next attempt to open settings.
I recently switched to Ubuntu and have little idea what and how to do. If you tell me a solution (without reinstalling) - I will be grateful.
