Ubuntu 16.04 missing input language (keyboard layout) indicator, how to fix?

Ubuntu 16.04. The input language indicator (keyboard layout) has disappeared, it is not displayed. In the settings, the checkbox for displaying the layout turned off \ turned on. I do not understand how to determine the cause, and as a result - how to correct the situation and return the indicator back. Other indicators work.
