Ubuntu 14.04, why is brightness not adjustable after nvidia driver update?

Who faced? Driver downloaded from site. Everything was installed without problems. Solved some problems with this. Now I can't adjust the brightness.
I have a samsung laptop. I also installed Samsung's special utilities. And I wrote lines in sudo gedit /etc/default/grub line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor". And still nothing. The brightness slider runs but to no avail ...
