The right online flash video downloader?
There is an unnamed site, not YouTube, from which I want to save the video being played. I tried to find a universal downloader by googling, but could not break through the crowd of greedy crooks offering their own creations through SEO.
Who can suggest a universal reliable and, if possible, free tool that downloads online flash videos from anywhere?
Thanks in advance

You can try a bunch of Firefox + FlashGot or Firefox + ( VideoDownloadHelper
Not exactly a downloader, but it works. Start playing the video and wait for the full download. Then go to the cache folder of your browser and look for the file there by size / date and with the flv extension. The method is clumsy, but universal.
Firefox + VideoDownloadHelper is the simplest sane solution. He will find everything for you, and you click "download" in the format you like.
It seems to me that you will not find universal. In an extreme case, you will find a tool that supports a certain list of services, no more, because there is no one scheme for getting an address from a video from a flash, each developer does it in his own way and as it is more convenient for him.
Hmm... I usually look at the pid of the flash player, and then using file I check which files the flash has, after which I find the video and stupidly copy it from /proc/$PID/fd/$NUMBER.
Now it's fashionable to play rtmp in flash. It is well downloaded by Streamtransport (GUI) and rtmpdump (CLI).
