The people, how to save battery power, while not losing a permanent connection to the Internet?

People, how to save battery power, while not losing a permanent connection to the Internet? in general, I want to periodically receive notifications on my phone, but being with wifi turned on all the time is not cool, are there any solutions? for example, so that the phone would connect every 10 minutes to wifi and receive notifications .... well, better as ajax, there are updates - he quickly threw them on the page without completely reloading the page .... can you suggest something ??

What platform? On iOS, you can receive notifications if the device is connected to the network, that is, if the user has not turned it off himself, and this does not require a battery

Push to help you, turning on wi-fi on demand is some kind of perversion IMHO, as correctly noted, iOS does not eat much battery (but eats) in standby mode
