How to include modules in Android Studio without copying them to the project folder?

Eclipse had a very handy feature when Project1 could be declared as a library, and Project2 itself could include this library. The convenience was that these 2 projects are two different git repositories. I could easily edit my Project2, and when necessary, in the Package Explorer, I poured changes from the repository for Project1.
And how to do something similar in Android Studio? I read about importing modules, but this is completely wrong. An IDEA project is always one whole repository and you cannot make each module point to its own repository. Moreover, when importing a module, it is always copied inside the project folder. It seems to me that this is a very inconvenient system.
