The maximum amount of HDD supported by the laptop

There is a laptop Samsung R540 JS0B. I want to put in a bigger screw. I would like to know the maximum volume supported by this laptop. Off. support was told that the maximum is 320GB, but I don’t believe them;)

Logically, first you need to find out what kind of mother is worth, what programs would you recommend?

@Palehin

BIOS must support 48-bit LBA

AIDA, formerly Everest.
Knowing what kind of mother it is in the case of a laptop will not help much.
Check the manufacturer's website and see the BIOS version. Perhaps an update would help.

Asked the same question, you can search on the FAQ.
most laptops fit hard 9.5mm thick ones, I found a screw with a maximum of 750GB. All the rest are thicker and will not stupidly fit into the laptop. It works without problems, now he is “from him” and I am writing. Although support similarly said that they tested with a maximum of 320GB.

I don't see any problem other than physical size. Any Sata 2.5" hard drive will do.

If you put more, then some other circuits may not survive. I have 320GB in my laptop, and everything is fine, and no more)

I think you can install more than 320 gigs, look at the power consumption of the screw and its dimensions (thickness)
